Kansas City Zoo’s Sea Lion Exhibit is home to four California sea lions and has been a popular destination for guests since the 300,000-gallon pool first opened in the 1950s. The main objective of this renovation was to bring the exhibit into ADA compliance and improve the viewing experience for all visitors. An emphasis on durable materials and controlling stormwater runoff was the focus of the site plan, while backstage, the design added two additional holding tanks. Renovation details include new exhibit signage, shade canopies, and lighting to help make this visitor-favorite exhibit deliver a real “wow” moment.
