Built in 1892 in what is now the historic West Bottoms, the Henney Buggy Building is an excellent example of reusing historical materials and spaces to create opportunities for sustainable and affordable development. This 24,000 sq ft project includes health and wellness-focused businesses on the first floor, artist studios on the second floor, and DRAW Architecture + Urban Design’s new headquarters on the third floor. DRAW is pushing the preconceived boundaries of historic, adaptive reuse by targeting the office’s embodied carbon and Net Zero energy goals. By creating a space that acts as a test bed for our Positive Impact Design ethos, our team has designed a light-filled space featuring reclaimed materials and industrial-inspired details.
