This highly visible site at 58th & Mission Road in Fairway, Kansas, was an opportunity to respect the neighborhood’s traditional ranch-style while seamlessly incorporating a dramatic addition and loft-like central living area.
Previously serving as our client’s childhood home, the updated design incorporated many familiar elements. Existing board and batten Cyprus siding was carefully removed and planed down to reveal fresh life, and horizontal wood accents under the windows play off original details.
The 1,000 sf expansion provides generous kitchen, dining and pantry/mudroom areas while open wall space was made available to display our creative client’s 140 sf canvas. South-facing windows and 4 foot sliding patio doors invite ample amounts of natural light.
